Fort Polaski, GA
One of the turning points of the Civil War. Union naval forces used first rifled shells to shell the Fort from 1.5 miles out.
Confederate forces still had cannon balls which could not answer this new rifled shell. The fort was destroyed.
This Fort is about three miles north west of Savannah Beach.
