  1. Tom, that is not the point and I am with you on that. The point is that if your pos lights don't work, you are perfectly legal to fly daytime vfr.
  2. I rest my case. Translated into real terms the use of anti collision lights is up to the pilot.
  3. For daytime vfr, you don't need ANY lights.
  4. Hi Jacques,

thanks for the quick response and I just noticed your post right now in time for my next 100 hour inspection. I guess I missed the email notification. It is hard to believe but I am coming up to 1200 hours on my CT. I am leaning towards swapping out the engine and replacing the rest of the rubber at that time. Still want to come East sometime. Maybe this year...

  5. Hi Jacques,

we traded fuel lines for light bulb but I have yet to replace my fuel line and was going to have that done during the next 100 hours inspection coming up, but am now having second thoughts about this given the discussion about the rubber flakes. What is your opinion?

  7. The gross weight does not affect the distance you can glide. This remains the same given any weight. What does change is the speed at which you achieve best l/d. The heavier the plane (glider) the faster the best l/d speed is. This is the reason why sailplanes put water balast in their wings to go faster around a particular course and dump that at the end of the day when thermal conditions become weaker and they need to lighten up to still use the (now) weaker thermals so they can still climb in these , whereas they might not be able to if they are too heavy. Hope this helps. Regards, Jos
  8. josh,

columbia to mammoth is about 45min in a ct and yosemite valley / national park is in between.

much to see, not far out of your way.

  9. Got truncated...

Any suggestions on the best way to cross the Sierra's? Worthwhile stopping at Mammoth?

  10. Hey Ed,

notice your post on the "other" board.

Remember, steady as she goes is always good and wins the race.

On another note , I am planning my next USA trip, which will take me to SF area and like to stop at Columbia.

From mthere I have to cross to Sierra's on my way to Jackson Hole and beyond.

Any suggestions about the est wa...

  11. So Roger, I assume we are no free to use the unspeakable word that start with R and ends with s? I always wondered what the big deal was in blocking out the name?
