Safety Officer Posted February 29, 2012 Report Share Posted February 29, 2012 Who Knew? Did you know an SLSA must have at least a 430 lb. useful load? It is figured on 2 x 190 passengers plus 1/2 the engine horse power weight wise. With the Rotax 912ULS 100 HP that means 50 lbs of fuel. When the MFG makes changes they can't violate that 430 lb. load minimum. This keeps the aircraft ASTM compliant. Talking to the FAA the weight and balance was brought up. They said if it was a pound or less they didn't care about another W&B calculation. They said they figured that is that much dirt in most aircraft.
