PDG Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 What do you all do to prevent birds from building nest in the engine compartment? Have not had any problems yet this year. However, had to remove four last yearand vacuum out all the little bits of "stuff"! Paul
Jim Meade Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 My first choice would be to prevent entry if feasible.
Runtoeat Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I don't have this problem but I've seen where others have custom fit styrofoam plugs to all openings. If the birds or critters peck it away just cut another when needed. If I had my plane outside in the weather, I'd probably opt for getting a protective fitted cover which would prevent ultraviolet degradation to the plane and also would plug many of the openings.
Mick Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Hanger is best bet, but when I had to stay outside I had plugs for the front and I tied a few aluminum foil plates on a string by the nose wheel and let them flap in the breeze. Seemed to work good.
