Ed Cesnalis Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Stalling near the ground while inverted, OMG. I've read one claim of a power loss and one claim of a tail wind gust. I can't see either for sure.
FlyingMonkey Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Sadly it's probably only a matter of time before aerobatics become banned from airshows...we are having too many accidents in too short a span lately.
C ICEY Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 I reluctantly watched. this is disturbing footage, and my thoughts go to the unfortunate souls lost in this accident, and their families. Seems to me that the wing she was sitting on stalled.
Adam Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 As the plane was going inverted there was a puff of smoke prior to the stall (at 29 seconds) and a distinct change to the attitude of the plane. I wonder if that was "normal" or if something went wrong right at that instant, the pilot compensated and continued to roll inverted and then managed to fly for a few seconds more before the wing stall. Absolutely God awful to see these folks pass away on video. Flying carries risks, my thoughts and prayers go to those lost, and lose they loved left to wonder why. Attached is a video tv interview with Jane Wicker right before the crash... http://youtu.be/lwi1pUdBWag
