CT4ME Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 The GAMA aircraft sales numbers (actually, shipments) are out for 2nd Qtr 2013. According to these numbers there have been 51 (!) CTs shipped this year (about 25 per quarter). The word is that all positions for 2013 aircraft have already been sold. You've probably also read that Flight Design is going to be in a larger facility in Connecticut and is building another factory in Asia to keep up with demand. Sales/shipments/positions sold... it's a bit blurry... but the bottom line is... things are looking good for FD! GAMA Report Airventure Pics Tim
Jim Meade Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 It is good news that FD is doing well in the U.S. Last year and this year at OSH, I was reminded by FD USA staff that new plane sales is where their emphasis is. They are working hard to sell new airplanes. I told them that prompt response to parts and service requests was critical to the long term health of their company.
sandpiper Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 I agree about parts. I've been trying since March to get a new pin for the internals of my nose gear. No joy. Twice they have suggested they get a cost for ordering that part only, vs waiting until one arrives in a container, so I can decide if I want to go that route. Can't even get that and it was their suggestion.
Olarry Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 Good to see sales are robust as this should be an indication of business longevity. On the other hand, I ordered a Jubilee edition at Sebring back in January and was told to expect delivery in May, Then June, then August and today, my dealer said jt could take up to a year. Disappointing to say the least. Would be nice if the factory could be a little more precise on deliveries and at least correspond with the buyer as to when to expect shipment.
FlyingMonkey Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 I'm confused. First quarter says 25 aircraft sold. But total billings are just $1.7 million. Isn't 25 CTs more like $3.5 million, not to mention spare parts, etc?
CT4ME Posted August 9, 2013 Author Report Posted August 9, 2013 Like it says..."Sales/shipments/positions sold... it's a bit blurry". Maybe a deposit is taken, and counted as a sale. You'll just hurt yourself trying to do any serious accounting based on these reports.
Ian Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Depends who's accounting principles are in use - Before retiring my company was bought by a large US concern and that completely changed how we could report sales - strikes me that Sarbanes-Oxley is crippling US businesses.
