markmn
Looks like Piper is out of the LSA business. Press release on the Pipers website. Not much of a reason given other than "different business philosophy" Why would they do this? Tecnam and CT making four seaters? Talk of third class medical going away? Is there more going on than we know? Mark
sandpiper
I flew the Piper Sport (then Sport Cruiser) in 2007 when I was trying to decide what to get. Very nice airplane. Docile stall characteristics and virtually no rudder issues. I picked the CT because I've always had high wing and because of the dealer support and perceived longevity of the brand. It's too bad it can't get some traction.
S4Flier
The SportCruiser is a good airplane. Put down a deposit on one in early 2007. Things didn't work out and I was far from alone. Fortunately, the US distributor was/is more client focused and refunded my deposit and I bought my Sting S3. No regrets. I was somewhat surprised when Piper entered into their relationship with Czech Sport Aircraft. Vastly different corporate cultures. Not surprised at all that the deal no longer worked for either party. I wouldn't draw any conclusions on the LSA industry based on this event. CT4ME
This is a shocker... they easily sold the most LSA last year. If you want to read more about it, go to ByDanJohnson.com. Bad news for LSA market, but good for Flight Design. Tim
