FastEddieB
Some will remember him as USS Yorktown. http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2019/11/aircraft-structural-failure-fatal.html?m=1 Lots of links in that chain. In hindsight, leaves me wondering if more could have been done.
Anticept
Probably not anything that reasonable, since it was evident to me that Bernath had an attitude problem, probably due to those mental issues. It's convenient that the mechanic was escorted out by the police after having discovered a probably serious structural issue. Sounds like Bernath was trying to cover that up. On top of that, that's quite a smorgasbord of antidepressants. His reactions to things in the past makes it seem like, to me, that he was becoming paranoid and unlikely to address his own attitude problems, blaming everything and everyone else. In addition, he was no stranger to exploiting shortcomings of law (not going to share what I know, sorry). In summary, I believe Bernath is a poster case of where our regulation falls short in terms of safety, and unfortunately solving that issue would need sweeping changes to our legal system, some of which would increase the burden of regulation on legitimate operation. Even then, would it really be worth the trade off?
Warmi
Sometimes you just can’t fix stupid and attempting to do so will end up punishing everyone else.
AGLyme
This was a nutty string back in the day (2013) with all the CTForum regulars... To y'all's credit, you didn't back down given his dangerous perspective on flying and the law.
