NC Bill
During pre-flight I finally noticed something I'd seen too many times and just didn't recognize - the opening aft at the wing root next to the flap. Is this a direct opening to the a/c interior? Inside the a/c that area is covered by an attached cover so I can't tell if the opening is blocked up so as to prevent water entering the cabin. Anybody have a fix for closing it off if necessary? BTW this would drip water onto the rear shelf - right where the water damaged a/c manuals were kept. Roger Lee
Hi Bill, You are correct about where the water goes. That's one reason not to use a hose or pressure sprayed water and to get a good cover that covers all open orifices if you leave your plane outside. 207WF
If you are careful you can tape from the inside of the baggage bay and narrow that opening to the minimum required for flap movement. Gary Annas did that on my CTSW early on. His idea was that any opening larger than necessary just slows you down with airflow drag. Can't say that it made me any faster, but it would mean a smaller amount of water. WF
NC Bill
What a/c cover and where do you recommend buying it Roger? Bill
Roger Lee
The cover come from Cunningham Covers in Arlington, WA. Have them make it like this. You can send them the pics. They made us a bunch up front. Then a year later kind of shortened them. Make it like this and no water worries, no scratching and it weighs 4.5 lbs.
