Warren
Hi, I have recently purchased a 2010 CTLS in Australia, the trim wheel is very stiff to move in both directions. I was just wondering if this is normal for the CTLS or just my aircraft. Thanks Warren
Tom Baker
It is fairly normal for the CTLS.
Warren
Ok Thank you, save me going hunting for a problem that is not there.
Tom Baker
The good thing is that you won't have to use it much, if you don't mind having to hold a little forward pressure just after takeoff if you are using 15 degree flaps. Once you take the flaps back to zero you will be back in trim.
FlyingMonkey
Congrats on your CT! Flying around the Australian back country has always been a dream I've had, it will probably go unfulfilled.
Bill3558
I have the same problem with my 2008. I guess it’s normal, but it’s not right. I find myself holding pressure on the stick because I don’t want the pain of cranking in that trim. It hurts.
Warren
Thanks Flying Monkey, I do love the CT now, But it was a love hate relationship to start with. I owned a 172 for about 14 years, now am use to it, working the landing out was the biggest challenge, this web site helped me out no end, so thank you all. Australia is a great place to fly, either this year or next, my wife and myself plan to fly right around the country for a couple of months. The CT is a great airplane, but definitely not really an easy one to fly and land. Once you get used to the quirks it's very capable, but it is a handful sometimes. My first couple hundred hours were a real learning experience -- now I have about 1500 landings on it and it's still sometimes a handful in gusty conditions, but it's not the white-knuckle experience it was at the beginning. I guess I'll just have to go out to West Texas and pretend it's the outback.
