Towner
I’ve never sat in an LS, but previous posts indicate an LS seat is more reclined than an SW seat. If this is true, will an LS seat fit in an SW? If so, anyone know of an LS being parted out where the seats may be available?
GrassStripFlyBoy
I think it's more the angle of the back wall, not so much the seat. Adding foam and adjusting what you have is probably the most simple way forward. I placed a bit of better foam in the bottom of mine an that made a nice difference. You could do something like that in the lower area of the yours?
Towner
My back doesn’t like being vertical. I think if I can fit a little lumbar support padding to the back, it’ll be ok. I tried a strap on lumbar support, but it is to thick and pushes me to far forward on the base of the seat. As you suggested, some extra padding on the seat bottom will be a big improvement too. Thanks.
FlyingMonkey
I have the same problem, My CTSW is hard on my back after more than a couple of hours. I think Darrell's right, the main issue is the rear bulkhead limiting how far the seat can recline. To solve this problem you'd have to do some E-LSA engineering, like changing the seat attach brackets and/or modifying the aft bulkhead. I suppose you could enlarge the pass-through area behind the seat to allow the seatback to be essentially inside the baggage bay. But then you'd have to reinforce the small amount of remaining bulkhead to maintain structural rigidity of the airframe. There's not really a good solution here. I'd say the best answer is what I have done..."live with it". What *has* helped though, is I tucked these under the seat covers in the lower back area to support the lumbar spine. That buys me some extra time:Inflatable Lumbar Support
Tom Baker
For the CTSW the low back seats are more comfortable, but they still need padding work from the stock seat.
Towner
The bottom of the seat definitely needs a little more padding, but that should be an easy fix. Sat on a small pillow for years in my prior plane and it worked fine. The inflatable lumbar support may be the answer I need. I mentioned the strap on lumbar support I’ve been using. It helps my back a lot, but because it’s so thick, it slides me to far forward on the bottom of the seat. My wife doesn’t have any back issues, but even she complains about the vertical position of the seat back.
