Warren
Hi, has anyone done and adjustment on aileron and rudder trim? If so how difficult is it. Thanks Warren
Anticept
You can't adjust the rudder trim. You can adjust the indicator though, and it takes finesse to get a screwdriver in the right place. The rudder trim is just a device that presses on one or the other cable. Aileron trim: if I recall this just pulls on a spring in the tail. Unless you are unable to use the trim, again you can adjust the indicator if it's off from neutral. What are you trying to do?

Thanks Warren Hi Warren, I don't think adjusting the trim is hard, but is RARELY needed. Some mess with it because they think it's out of adjustment, but they are usually cross controlling with the trim wheels. I've seen this many times. I go fly with them and reset the trim wheel positions and so far it has taken care of all the control issues the owner had. Unless you have a really good handle on the trim need for adjustment many times it's better left alone. Try moving the trim wheels back to a more neutral position with the indicator. These aren't perfect, but close enough for a check. Then go fly. Once up to level flight then adjust pitch first, then aileron trim and last rudder trim in this order. Unless there are winds then this should allow you to fly close to hands off or at least no constant stick pressure to hold a course.
Tom Baker
Trim the airplane to fly straight and true in calm wind, then re-center the indicators if needed. I have seen the indicators get loose and slip out of position.
Warren
Hi Rodger, I just finished a 50 hr safari around Northern Teriorty and Western Australia, I found Aileron trim full deflection to the right I was still flying right wing high completely emptying right wing of fuel, before starting to drain from left tank, tried putting heavier bag on right side no change. With rudder trim using auto pilot was not able to centre the ball with trim. Elevator trim no issue. Regards Warren
Madhatter
How long has this been an issue? When I bought my SW years ago I noticed the flaps at 0° had one down about 3/8". I re rigged them for even position but found I had a significant roll tendency to the left and was unable to correct it. After contacting FD I was informed that even a very small twist in the wing can cause this as they are hand built. To compensate for the roll tendency the appropriate flap is slightly lowered to correct the issue. My CT flies straight with ball centered and has been for 13 yrs. This is common practice on aircraft where angle of incidence adjustment is not possible like in Cherokee series aircraft.
