Eddie Cesnalis Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 https://drs.faa.gov/browse/excelExternalWindow/DRSDOCID117071009620241226214236.0001 I have it enabled on my EFIS but I have never got in the habit of referenceing it on approach. Do many of you find it to be intuitive? Quote
Anticept Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 It's in a bad place for me to be referencing on approach. It would be helpful if it was on a hud Quote
S4Flier Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 The Garmin G3X has the AOA near the airspeed vertical tape so it’s pretty much in any scan that includes airspeed. Quote

Madhatter Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 I have a Jabiru 230D with Garmin GI260 AOA indicator separate from the G3X EFIS. I've never used one until now. After re-calibrating it and learning to use it I wouldn't want to be without it. No need to look at the airspeed on approach, everything is there in front of you. It also accounts for flaps up or down. Quote

Do many of you find it to be intuitive? I have D100 with AOA alrm , I feel it works fine to me. Normally , i don't pay to much attation to AOA which shows on EFIS sreen , but few times. when I was busy on something during approach, I didn't pay to much atattion on airspeed, the AOA alarm just starting "stall stall" on my earphone, than I looked to air speed, it was pretty low. BTW. I set AOA alarm start working at bottom yellow , it is nosy me sometime when I take off. But it really help when I am slow. Quote
Madhatter Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 The main advantage to me is I don't have to look down for airspeed. Quote
Towner Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 I have it on my d100 too, but never bother to look at it. I didn’t realize it can be set up for audible alerts though, which I’ll probably figure out how to turn on and give it a try. I agree that to be visually practical, it has to be in your line of sight looking out the window like the one in the picture or a hud. I actually really like the idea of the audible warning as long as it’s not going off to early and becoming a nuisance. Quote
Tom Baker Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Some of the early CTSW's were not wired for the AoA audible warning. Quote

Madhatter Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 Garmin's AOA can be used as a stand alone system. Quote
Skunkworks85 Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 Fun fact, If you have the HS34 or the AP74, you can have voice alerts instead of just tones. Quote
procharger Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago I am looking at air speed and runway nothing else. Been doing it 14 years that way no more extra gauges for me. Quote
