GrassStripFlyBoy Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Replacing the VDO oil pressure sender as mine is pushing 900 hours and seeing some fluctuation at start up / until engine is warmed up. LEAF Rotax diagram indicates Loctite 243 but I'm suspecting that is for newer engines with the M10 instead of NPT? I was searching forum a few weeks back and thought there was recommendation for a sealant v/s a thread locker, so what's the recommended sealant here? Is it acceptable to remove sender and simply place finger over hole, then "quickly" thread in the new one, or is it best to allow residual oil to completely drain and then clean things up, install fresh? I have time to do it right, but wondering what's standard / good practice. Sort of on the fence about remote location of sender, as I've not had issues over the years prefer to keep it simple. Or are senders failing more frequently these days? Quote
Tom Baker Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 You can relocate for less than the cost of the sender, but the choice is yours. You can make your own restrictor fitting, and buy the hose from Amazon. As for sealant the VDO sender has tapered threads. I typically don't use sealer on the threads because of conductivity reasons, if I did it would be a very sparingly bit of Teflon paste. Quote
