I am a member of the Recreational Aviation Foundation and we have been working on a couple of National Forest Service airstrips with the goal of opening them up to public use. We recently spent a weekend clearing brush from the 3800' paved (and closed), runway at Lake Roosevelt, known as Grapevine. The strip remains closed to casual traffic, but is available on a pre-approved basis for fly-in activities.
We will be having a fly-in at Grapevine on Feb 25 & 26. Limited parking and rough camping is available. Details regarding this fly-in may be found on the Arizona Pilots Association web page www.Facebook.com/AZPilots.org
The APA and the RAF are great organizations and I expect a nice bunch of people at this fly-in.
