Unknown e-mails

I have received 4 e-mails in the last 24hours that look suspicious. I have not opened them for that reason. Is anyone else getting unknown e-mails like this?

Thanks,

I got an offer purportedly from AvWeb to sign up for a Light Maintenance Newsletter. I went to the AvWeb site and didn't see anything there about the newsletter so I deleted it.

I have received 2-3 other emails in the last couple of weeks that are aviation themed but unknown to me so after checking them out I deleted them, as well.

There seems to be an increase in email "hacking" or "hijacking" going on. I was hijacked twice last year. This is where someone gets into your email and your address book and sends out numerous emails to everyone listed in your address book. Usually there is a short message like "check this out" followed by an embedded link. Since the sender is trusted by the recipient, many people automatically click on the link. Both times this happened to me I found that my password had been changed and I couldn't even get into my own email.

The first time I worked with my ISP and changed to a complex password but it happened again. I asked my ISP 'how could this happen" ? He expalined there are programs that do this and they are pretty good and that once the password is hacked, they then change your security question. So, you also need a more complex answer to your security question as opposed to a one word answer.

Are we having fun yet?

About a week ago I got an email asking if it was OK for the writer to post a link to a YouTube video of mine.

It looked real. I had just posted a Sky Arrow video in the prior couple of days. I clicked on the link and was taken to a Viagra ad.

Got two more later in the day.

I know, I know, you should NEVER click on an email link, but these guys are good!
