Safety Officer
FD has posted a new safety alert on fuel hose supplied on the new fuel pumps from Rotax. This is the same alert sent out by Rotax and has already been posted here. This is the bottom 1/4" pressure hose that comes off the bottom of the new style pump and goes to the fuel distribution block on the carb cross over balance tube. As far as we know no CTSW's or new LS's are affected unless you replaced an old Rotax fuel pump with a new style pump, but you need to look to make sure. All you need to do is check the pump serial number. If you happen to have one of these which isn't real likely then just replace it as Rotax may not have a hose replacement from them for months. They are looking for hose, then it has to be shipped, then built, then shipped to the Bahamas and then finally distributed. This wouldn't be any different than doing your hose change. This alert needs to be logged in your engine logbook as not applicable due to serial number if it doesn't affect you.
Safety Officer
Son of a gun if they didn't already print a revision to the first alert. Here it is: ASB-912-061.pdf
BMcCand - N248CT
I thought I might have been duly rewarded for replacing the fuel pump , with integral hoses, at the 5 yr service. It seems I'm lucky though, by serial number, ASB didn't apply. But I did examine both float bowls anyway.
Roger Lee
I would think our CT fleet is fairly clear of this alert. The time frame for the bad hose is pretty narrow. You still need to check someone just may have such a hose.
Tip
Hi Roger, Could you post your log book entry for this?
Roger Lee
Logbook entry for the fuel hose on the fuel pump safety alert, It doesn't need to be word for word, just cover the bases, but this would do nicely. The Flight Design Safety Alert SA-ASTM-CTSW-05, "replacement of the pressure side fuel hose on the fuel pump" does not apply to this aircraft due to the engine serial number or the fuel pump serial number. Sign it and put your PP lic. number or the mechanics signature. The best way for someone to always find if SB's are done is to just make a running list in the back of the logbook. Then no one has to go through the entire logbook entry by entry to find them. Pick a page in the back of the book and just make a chronological list.
