Russell Croman
Hi folks, I'm considering getting an electric scooter to take along on trips so I have a way to get around at other airports. Often I find that restaurants, hotels, car rental places, etc., are not on the field but are within a few miles. I considered a folding bike, but I can't find one that would fit in the CTSW baggage area. However, there is at least one electric scooter that would. For example: http://www.goped.com/products/Iped-II/default.asp Any other nifty options I should be considering? -Russ
FlyingMonkey
If you don't want the range limitations of electric, there are scooters like that with tiny gas engines too. You could drain it to take along, then fill it out of your airplane's tanks when you get there!
Russell Croman
I considered that, but the electric has a range of up to 20 miles, depending on the battery pack option and how you drive it. The trade-off is that electric is much more expensive. The example I posted weighs in at only 31lb in the large-capacity option, and folds to 36" long (34" at the wheels), which should fit nicely in the CTSW. -Russ
chanik
I have one, old version, not the IPED2. I can get it in the plane without pulling the seats, which is nice. Gas is a bad idea. Can't take it on buses or trains, hotels and shops often won't let a smelly thing fueled thing inside either.
Runtoeat
Russ, here you go (Kurt, push aside all of the landing light stuff on your workbench and whip out a pair of these). My link
