Roger Lee
Hi Mack, We have been using the K&N 33-2092 for almost 5 years now. It fits a Volkswagen Jetta. It is the right one for the SW and is a lifetime air filter and it helps with cooling some because of the better air flow. (I tested it) this should be your best alternative over the original. Call me I'll tell you two other nifty little tricks for the filter change. One of the cheaper places to buy them is right from K&N at around $
Doug G.
Are there any options for the LS? Doug
Roger Lee
Not really necessary. It already has a K&N.
Doug G.
Good to know. I have not changed it yet. Is it the same number as the SW?
Roger Lee
No the LS is round cylindrical and the SW is flat and long. Two very different filters. Yours doesn't need replacement, only cleaning and re-oiled. Make sure you don't over oil it. It gets the lightest of sprays and I mean very very light. Too much oil and it slows air flow and is sucked into the carbs and makes a mess. Don't use gas to clean it. Use some hot soapy water or something like Oil Eater water based solvent to clean it. Rinse it really well and put it out to dry. Don't use high pressure air to dry it.
Doug G.
Do you use the K&N oil, or does something else work just as well.
Roger Lee
Use the K&N it isn't expensive and I'm not sure exactly what's in it. I can will last long after you get rid of the plane.
