Philip Welsch
Anyone know how Flight Design CAS relates to IAS on the Dynon? Most of the AOI V Speeds for the LS are presented as CAS and there is no calibration/correction table. This is the only aircraft of the four I've owned (including an experimental) that had no means of correcting IAS. PRW
207WF
Some of us spent some time on this a few years ago, and my impression was that the accurracy of IAS varies from plane to plane. I went out under known temperature and wind conditions and flew large triangular courses, recording the IAS heading, mag. course, temperature and GPS groundspeed on each leg. I found that the average of my Dynon and FD analogue IAS was pretty close to correct, once I got the dam on the static port oriented in the right direction (dam in front, higher IAS). I have been meaning to do this again to see if things have changed. When I get to it I will post the calculations again. WF
