Light Sport Repairman becomes FAA Certified Repair Station

Recommended Posts

Hi Ctfliers,

Something of a first occured this past week when Southland Rotax, run by well know Rotax repairman Wayne Flemington, located at French Valley Airport (KF70), has obtained an Air Agency Certificate, becoming a Certified Repair Station (CRS), allowing him now to complete all aspects of an annual on your Light Sport Aircraft, including certifiction of your Transponder!

As is generally known but sometimes forgotten, your aircraft transponder has to be certified every 24 months by an FAA certified Repair Station. It can not be done by an LSRM-A, and A&P or even an A&P-IA.

This has posed a problem for some who are not conveniently located near a CRS, or who have found remote services offered by some mobile CRS a steep fee, and requiring additional work beyond a normal annual.

Since most LSA are sold new, the transponder typically is due for re-certification at the time of the second annual.

Now you can have it all done at the same time as your annual, and at reasonable cost!

Wayne Flemington can be reached at 951-255-9144
