Ed Cesnalis
Thinking back, wing overs were not the only aerobatic maneuver that was sometimes explored in the hopes of building emergency maneuvering skills. There also existed the legendary streamer cutting to demonstrate that you could maneuver and get the airplane where you wanted it to be.
Jim Meade
My friend told me of the time he was flying an O-1 ribbon cutting toilet paper. Throw a roll out at altitude and cut, cut, cut all the way down. He was having a gay time until he got a wad in the air intake and it killed the engine. Landed on a country road, got out, removed the obstruction, and took off again. Great fun.
