Think there may be a little lift in there?

Not to try to teach anyone's grandmother to suck eggs, but the white, crispy growing part of the cloud usually has the strongest lift, but other parts may still have strong lift, as well.

The Rim fire is in Yosemite, wouldn't that be the Feds letting it burn? Bodie State Park just re-opened, the fire was at Aurora, NV but closed CA recreation.

 

It works both ways but mostly you are right that CA fires send smoke to NV.
