Ed Cesnalis
Beef = Beer 13 June 1944: An English brewery donates a sizable amount of fresh beer for the troops fighting in Normandy and a unique delivery method is created, strapping kegs to the underwings of Spitfires being shipped to forward airfields. Flying at 12 000 feet chills the brew to perfection
FlyingMonkey
I hope those aren't just fuel drop tanks they filled with beer...might be a little gasoline-y...
Jim Meade
Do you think the troops cared if it was? When I was on maneuvers in Japan in 1963 we were issued C rations with Lucky Strike Greens. Anyone care to speculate when they were last made? In Vietnam we got some Lucky Lager that was in rusted cans, allegedly out of the Philippines, who knows what year. No one complained.
