Doug G.
Have you seen this? Looks like a good avionics backup. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/in-the-air/portable-gps/d2-pilot-watch/prod148289.html
FlyingMonkey
496, iPad, Android phone, paper chart...I don't think I need yet another backup. I'm only going to have to use the paper if there is a regional EMP as it is...and in that case the engine ignition modules will quit and I'll be a glider anyway! FastEddieB
Pretty cool for the technology they can squeeze into a package that size. But who even wears a watch any more? For me, my iPhone has supplemented any and all functions a watch might provide.

Doug G.
I must be a strange one. I wear a Citizen aviation watch. (I had it quite a while before I started working on my license.) I have always worn a watch. looks like this is not a one trick pony either, the accessories include pedometer, heart rate, and bicycling accessories. I'm interested, even though I have the same number of backups as Andy.
FlyingMonkey
Pulse oximeter would be a good add-on for pilots.
CT4ME
'Still wear a watch too... but won't be wearing this one! 'Read somewhere yearly updates were something like $300... plus, Ipad, Nexus, iPhone and Android (all with EFBs on them) are plenty of backup for the Garmin 296! tim
Doug G.
Looks like the updates are $75/ year, possibly more. Nice watch, not worth the cost.
