mocfly
I just noticed the air filter housing doesn't even come close to sealing against the upper cowl. The filter housing is tight against the upper bulkhead. Thoughts? What do some in the field look like?
Roger Lee
The white rubber seal isn't a big deal after a firewall blanket is installed, but the housing should fit up against the blanket snugly. I can't tell from the picture for sure, but it looks like there is a firewall blanket off to the side, but not where the air box is? You may have a stripped Rivnut on 1-2 of the mounting screws. If you do see if you can't remove the screw, re-squeeze the Rivnut, tap the rivnut threads and then put the screw back in place all the way. If the Rivnut is messed up too bad I would just drill another hole in the vicinity and put a new Rivnut in. Don't try taking the old one out in this location. You'll just make a big hole you can't use.
FlyingMonkey
Hard to get oriented from that pic...is the shelf on top in the pic the "lip" that the upper cowl attaches to? I think on mine the airbox goes right up to that lip...is it possible the airbox is mounted a bit low? Assuming I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing in that pic...
