He was North of St Louis over the Mississipi river about 3000 feet descending into Lambert. He was about 190kts when it happened. It took out the windshield, and the side post on the pilot side. It grazed his head, bent the headrest on the pilot seat, before becoming stuck in the rear cabin bulkhead. He managed to get it on the ground, but it ruined his powder blue suit.
sandpiper Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 In sept. one of my neighbors hit two ducks at 12K in his Bonanza in cruise. One was in the nose bowl, the other in the wing. Got the plane on the ground and the only injury was to his wallet. I haven't heard the final estimate but he was expecting it to be north of $30K.
