Marking a Waypoint

Hello all...

 

I use an iPad with ForeFlight and a Garmin 496 for navigation. Sunday I found a cool place (a big solar panel farm) I wanted to mark on my map as a waypoint to use later, but was not sure how to do it. Is there an easy way to do this in either ForeFlight or the 496 in a quick and dirty way, without digging through a million menus or screens?

496 (696,396,296).... just press and hold "enter" for a bit.

Andy,

Press the waypoint area till the menu pops up.

Go to waypoints tab and add to route

Then press save and add your own descriptive.

You can then delete the waypoint from your route and it will still be in the database

Thanks Chris...do you have to add a description to save the point? I don't see me doing much typing while flying...

Where you tap on foreflight, there is a coordinate that should be among the options in "all" or "waypoints. Just push "more" and push "save". You can name it etc.

Not Chris, but Garmin gives it a default name, like 001.

 

You can just accept that, then rename or delete it later at your leisure.
