Ian Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 NATS (National Air Traffic Services) in the UK are about to introduce a new system for managing the spacing of aircraft on finals depending upon the headwind component - http://www.nats.aero/news/time-based-separation-heathrow-world-first/ There's an interesting discussion about it on Pilot Prune http://www.pprune.org/atc-issues/534312-time-based-separation.html While it obviously doesn't affect us flying CTs too much there have been a few threads running on here where some mis-understandings of IAS, TAS & GS have been quite apparent - perhaps reading this might help (or then again perhaps it might just cause more confusion!!) Anyway I hope you find it interesting
