FlyingMonkey Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Hey all... A post by FastEddie on sportpilottalk.com reminded me of an issue I meant to ask about: My Dynon D100 shows level on the ground, with the flight path marker even with the horizon line. When flying in level cruise with 0 vertical speed, the FP marker is usually around the first tick mark below the horizon, which is I think -5°. I know that the location of the FP marker will change at various speeds due to changes in aircraft attitude, I'm just wondering if what I'm seeing is more or less normal or would my D100 benefit from a calibration... If a calibration is warranted, what should I shoot for as the ideal? FP marker and horizon level at normal cruise speed? Something else? Thanks!
Anticept Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 You can adjust that in the setup menu. I am looking in the manual for the section, standby. EDIT: in level flight, go to setup > pitch. You should know what to do from there Dynon D100 installation manual, pg 4-1
FlyingMonkey Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 Yeah, I have the calibration procedure, I'm just wondering if I need to do it or if my current configuration is pretty normal.
Ed Cesnalis Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Normal or not it would not be helpful to me to have my EFIS' AI telling me my nose whas down 5° when I am level especially if I actually needed the AI.
Anticept Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 It should be adjusted to level flight. It is going to change a lot in a CT, since our AoA changes vastly with airspeed. Just set it for your normal cruise.
FlyingMonkey Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 Cool, makes sense. Do you guys see the FP marker above the horizon when sitting on the ground? That's where mine will probably end up after I calibrate to cruise.
