Al Downs Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 At 1000 hours the gear box needs to be inspected. How many hours of work is it to remove and reinstall the gearbox along with a new fuel pump? I am thinking I may have been double charged for some of it.
Tom Baker Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 The fuel pump needs to come off to remove the gearbox, so changing the pump should only be the time it takes to change the fuel lines and add the new drain line. That should be no more than an hour, and should take less than that. The gearbox removal and installation should be in the 2-3 hour range by the time you include cowling removal, installation, clean up the spilled oil, and checking the prop pitch. Roger can probably do in less time. I'm not sure on the time to do the actual gearbox inspection.
Anticept Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 The actual box inspection takes about 40 min. Which would include a re-shim. To do a gearbox and pump start to finish would be about 2hrs. Before or after obtaining "Roger Lee" superpowers?
sandpiper Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 You could always bet Roger dinner for two that he can't do something in the time he states. I won't make that mistake again!!
