Jim Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Did my usual winter flair and expected the usual 3 second float. It was more like a half-second. Not a bad landing, but not the classic soft-field that I love. Happens the start of every summer.
FastEddieB Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Assuming you're still using the IAS, I'm unsure as to why the time in the float would be different at different temperatures. I've just never really noticed a difference.
Ed Cesnalis Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 I'm at a higher altitude than Jim but I agree. In the summer when the lapse rate goes up the air gets squirrelly. My hands and feet will be busier during a landing with Summer conditions. The best thing I can say about summer conditions is at least they are better than Spring which can be un-flyable.
