Roger Lee
ELT remote battery? What are you talking about? The remote switch on the panel for the ELT has a battery in it. For many it is a CR1. The newer ones have a CR2. This should be changed about every 5 years. Duracell has a replacement date. It needs to have the switch removed from the panel. It has a couple of screws and it splits apart. Pop the new battery in and away you go.
Tom Baker
It is 8 years for the lithium battery and 3 years for the alkaline. The originals are lithium.
Roger Lee
All the 2004-2006 are due to be changed. Personally 6 years would be good for me because I rarely find batteries that go their full life. New new style 406 ELT beeper also has a battery. Doug G.
Do they all have batteries? Mine has a rocker switch. (Oh, and the unit case says the ELT batteries are due in May. The batteries themselves say March. So you might want to check them to stay in compliance.)

Roger Lee
Hi Doug, I'm talking about the remote switch in the instrument panel not the main ELT in the baggage compartment for the CT. See the picture in the first post.
Anticept
I know. That's what the *sigh* was for
Roger Lee
I knew you knew. It was for others that might not have understood my post. I might have worded it better?
Doug G.
I understood that Roger. I put the comment about the main batteries in parentheses hoping it would be seen as a separate comment. Do all the ELT panel switches on CTs have batteries? Mine looks very different than the one you show.
Tom Baker
I have yet to see a remote switch that does not have a battery. The switch that Roger posted a picture of is from an Ameri King ELT. Doug, what brand ELT does you plane have?
Roger Lee
The new ACK 406 ELT remotes have them too.
Doug G.
Thanks. It should be a ways away for me. What happens if it dies? No manual activation, or just no light?
207WF
OK, so where do I get a new lithium battery for this? WF
