AZAV8OR Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Yesterday morning, I flew a short x-c as a flight of two with a Cirrus SR22. (Yes, he was able to keep up with me!). As we compared IAS, wind, GS, etc. I found that my CT was showing +5-6 KIAS compared to him. In addition, I was showing a 20kt left quartering headwind, while he was showing a <4kt headwind. My a/p was holding a only a 6 degree correction, so I am suspicious of my wind vector and IAS data. Folks familiar with Skyview, any suggestions? Thanks!
coppercity Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 From my experience the heading calibration is usually to blame. Also you also want to ensure your coordinated in cruise.
Ed Cesnalis Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Sounds like your heading or coordination is perhaps showing false winds but your IAS is also suspect if the SR22 is correct. If you yaw left and right, at the point where the false winds disappear is likely where your nose is in the wind.
207WF Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 Probably, your IAS is too high. Many are. Mine was until I tweaked it by changing the orientation of the air dam on the static hole. WF
