Al Downs Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 One of the students in my plane will be spending a lot of time in Phoenix this winter and is looking for some training while there. Anything available in te Phoenix area?
CT4ME Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 I know of two CFIs that do CTs in Phoenix, Spencer and Sonny. With Bisbee being so close, a few lessons from Eric at coppercity would be invaluable.
Al Downs Posted October 28, 2014 Author Report Posted October 28, 2014 How would I contact the two in Phoenix? Bisbee is almost 200 miles away.
CT4ME Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 Spencer Kleinhans 480-202-7085. Sonny Weller... www.sonyweller.com 623-516-8951 or 602-463-4863 aerialant@cox.net tim
Al Downs Posted October 30, 2014 Author Report Posted October 30, 2014 Just for future info, neither of the two instructors provide sport training or sport planes. According to them Sport flying is dead in Arizona. I really don't believe that because I know southern AZ into Sport Flying. Thanks for helping anyway.
Al Downs Posted October 30, 2014 Author Report Posted October 30, 2014 Yes I know about Eric but it is near 200 miles
AZAV8OR Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 Yes I know about Eric but it is near 200 miles Eric is good enough for you to deal with the logistics. He will come to you, if you plan ahead with him. He transitioned me into my CT over a weekend, with me covering his travel expenses. Well worth it!
coppercity Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 I will let you know if I get up to Phoenix anytime this winter, perhaps we could set something up to help keep up the proficiency. Bisbee is a nice weekend visit if your student wants to get out of the big city!
CT4ME Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 Al, You never mentioned needing an aircraft. I know both of those instructors do Sport Pilot... Spencer helped transition Peter (who bought my plane) in the last few months, and Sonny is still active and will train on/in pretty much anything. 'Still think whatever effort is needed to spend some time with Eric will be worth it. It would be hard to find anyone as familiar with the aircraft type(s) and spent as much time flying and giving instruction in them.
Al Downs Posted October 30, 2014 Author Report Posted October 30, 2014 Sorry if I wasn't clear about needing a plane. He is a new student and it would be best if he could train in a CT. Thanks for the response Eric. If you do get up to Phoenix let me know and I will try to connect the two of you.
