Jim Meade
I'd like to hear from any of you who have flown an FD CT factory setup float plane.
Tom Baker
I had a ride, one water landing, and a little stick time in one. Not enough to offer much of anything.
Jim Meade
What was the brake setup?
Anticept
He had to stick his feet through the floor flintstones style.
Tom Baker
What was the brake setup? It had split brake handles. I have seen one on a CTSW too.
Anticept
The split brake handles are available on request for the non-float version, and are retrofittable. They do not provide much of an advantage over the current design due to the planes being lightweights when compared to the cost, however.
Roger Lee
I had one at my field for a couple years (CTSW). Now Tom sees it once in a while. Little Taka has it. Personally I wouldn't do it and there isn't much advantage and can get you in trouble on landing if you get carried away with one brake or the other. floats
I have a CTSW on floats factory assembled. It has split brakes handles as it is the only way to steer it with for wheels floats.
Jim Meade
I assume this is two separate master cylinders, each handling one brake? One has to modify the tunnel cover slightly to allow for two brake handles side-by-side? What does the retrofit cost?
floats
Mine is factory built with the floats installation. No idea about retrofit
Runtoeat
There was a CTLS on floats at Sebring a few years ago. I believe this was flown in by Airtime Aviation in Tulsa? They might be able to provide information about retrofitting floats to a CT.
floats
Check CTLS on floats on you tube. You will find détails of the Canadian manufacturers who installed them on the plane
