gbigs
The FAA issued an experimental airworthiness certificate to Amazon for it's Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) technology. Under the terms of the certificate, all flight operations must be conducted at 400 feet or below during daylight hours. The certificate also requires the pilot flying the Amazon drone must have at least a private pilot’s certificate with current medical. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2015/03/19/amazon-gets-faa-approval-for-drone-testing/
FlyingMonkey
All flights must also be conducted within sight of the pilot...not very useful for package delivery.
Ian
Perhaps the pilot controlling will be in the Fed-Ex van following the drone?
ralarcon
All flights must also be conducted within sight of the pilot...not very useful for package delivery. Seems very time consuming and not worth the effort unless automated. Cheers

Rich
According to AvWeb this morning, The drone that Amazon received the approval for is obsolete. They need another approval for the current one they'd like to test.
