CT4ME Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 From Roger's backyard in Tucson, a very recent, incredible, video of a microburst in action. This was August 8th, 2015... 4 days before a similar event in Chandler (KCHD) that flipped 30 airplanes. Go full screen and check out the slow-mo. https://vimeo.com/136145121?from=outro-embed
CT4ME Posted August 14, 2015 Author Report Posted August 14, 2015 NWS depiction of same event... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CL7EFB9WwAAr7xM.png
Ed Cesnalis Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 Cool, FAA came here and put on an event teaching about microbursts. To put the fear of god in us they made it clear that they happen even in blue skies.
AZAV8OR Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 "This was August 8th, 2015... 4 days before a similar event in Chandler (KCHD) that flipped 30 airplanes" Sadly, the official count is 43 destroyed or substantially damaged. At Chandler Air Service, of a fleet of 20, 6 are totaled (including my solo Warrior from 1992), 6 are repairable, 8 OK. TransPac lost all 6 PA28's. I could not find any where on the ramp that was not hit in some way. It really sucks that Mother Nature couldn't have aimed 1/2 mile south... Here's the really scary part for me: the hangar directly next to me had the doors torn clean off. My doors on that side of my hangar attempted the same trick, but my pins held. I had to hammer the man-door latch back into shape to get it open. Had the doors departed, my little CT would have likely been mince meat. Whew.
Tom Baker Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 This is kind of odd. The video in the first post doesn't play for me, and when I try to back out of the browser nothing happens. I have to close it to get out, however it seem to have let me post this.
Tom Baker Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 This link isn't a video it is a png picture file https://pbs.twimg.co...FB9WwAAr7xM.png Just watch it in the first post video. The first post come up as "Page cannot be displayed" for me. Still when I click on this thread I can not go back by clicking the back arrow. I am sort of stuck here.
CT4ME Posted August 15, 2015 Author Report Posted August 15, 2015 Maybe this?... https://vimeo.com/135811823
Tom Baker Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 Maybe this?... https://vimeo.com/135811823 This video will play. Still no video in the first post. Still can not use the back arrow when I click on this thread.
CT4ME Posted August 15, 2015 Author Report Posted August 15, 2015 Using IE, it doesn't play on mine either. It's some sort of player issue... Chrome works OK.
Tom Baker Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Hi Tom, The back arrow shouldn't work because it opens a new tab out of the forum. Using the back arrow takes me back to the topic or main forum page when I am in any other thread than this one. Tim, I am using IE.
Anticept Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 This video needs to have the latest flash player installed. It comes installed by default on chrome. Also, ad blockers and security software can prevent the flash player from loading automatically, so keep an eye out for security warnings about it.
C ICEY Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Incredible images. Quite the energetic updraft just prior to the main show. any idea what the real time duration was?
