procharger
Article says quick thinking pilot, I am not so sure about that. Good out come anyway??? At least his BRS hatch must have been right
Doug G.
Ok, does everyone agree that in this situation he did the right thing by pulling the chute? ????
Ed Cesnalis
Ok, does everyone agree that in this situation he did the right thing by pulling the chute? I would probably asses the level of performance and control I had without wings first
FlyingMonkey
In hindsight we all get to say "well, of course in THAT circumstance a chute makes sense!" But for that pilot, it was just another normal flight, until everything went sideways (especially the wings!). This is what I don't get about pilots that denigrate having a BRS system as "too heavy" or "too expensive" or that "a real pilot tries to land the airplane". I'm sure if you asked that pilot what his BRS was worth, the answer would be "anything I have." Nobody expects to use emergency equipment, which makes it easy to delete or not keep up to date. But like a good fire extinguisher, it's just extra weight until the flames start licking at your feet...
