procharger
I was looking at u tube and there was a video of a guy replacing starter sprag on a 1098 Duc. motorcycle the inner sprag looks exactly like the rotax sprag you could see rollers and spring in hub. Anticept
A good bit of the rotax engine was based on motorcycle designs. They use a lot of off the shelf parts. EDIT: Clarification, the off the shelf parts are not necessarily motorcycle parts. In general, rotax uses some off the shelf parts for various things. Roger Lee
Here's how rumors start. Here is just one example before you call Rotax parts off the shelf motorcycle parts. The original ignition modules said Ducati on them. Everyone thought that they were off the Ducati motorcycle. Some still think that. All Rotax did was use the box and put their own electronics in them. Since that seemed an issue Rotax has their own ignition box made now with no other name on it. Parts may look close, but most are modified.
Anticept
What I said came from Eric Tucker. So if rumors start, it's his fault! Also, I did NOT say off the shelf motorcycle parts, although I can see how the two sentences can make that implication.
