Ed Cesnalis
The FAA has just made laughing stock of themselves and the LSA rule.
Anticept
They had that exemption a long time ago if I recall.
gbigs
They had that exemption a long time ago if I recall. No. They had a 1480 pound exemption the first round. Notice they are using the 912iS engine...guess the CLTSi should be able to go 500 lbs overweight...that would make the CTLSi have a useful load of 1000 lbs. Doug G.
Seems like you need a gimmick to get an exemption. Sea plane, flying car. Hmm...maybe if I use a track system instead of wheels...

FlyingMonkey
EAA (2004): "The LSA weight limit should be higher than 1320lb, so we can incorporate more safety features and stronger structure." FAA (2004): "No way. The kinetic energy increase in an impact will make the aircraft more dangerous to both passengers and bystanders on the ground." Terrafugia (2016): "Hey Brah, you should let us certify this LSA at 1800lb, because we have more safety features and stronger structure!" FAA (2016): "Sure thing Brah, makes sense to us!"
