Al Downs
Does anyone have an old muffler from a 912. I t can have holes and other damage. I am looking for the socket ends that are welded on it. Let me know and name your price.
Roger Lee
The socket ends come from Rotax and can be ordered through your service center. If the muffler is cracked it can be welded. If it has a hole it can be covered with a welded plate. The pipes and muffler are stainless steel.
Al Downs
The parts I need are welded on the muffler not the pipes and are not offered without the muffler
Roger Lee
Hi Al, Who told you that? I'm looking at them in my CPS book. I have bought therm myself before. I bought them for CT4ME. Stainless steel: The male ends are 978-521 $27.69 each The females are 978-511 $29.21 each The exhaust hooks are 853-356 42.06 each
Al Downs
Those are not what I need. I need the parts that are welded onto the muffler. It is a short pipe (1.5") and the socket on the end of it. If I can find an old muffler I can cut them off and use them on my muffler. My muffler is only 11 months old but those ends are split at the bell area. Leading Edge and Locwood told me they are not available and they are not shown on any drawings as a piece separate piece from the muffler.
Roger Lee
Al can you take a picture for me? If this is what you mean then buy this one piece and cut it and it would be enough for all four. 978-998 $83.
Al Downs
I need the part that that goes into. It is shown on the diagrams welded to the muffler and it shows a notation to add anti-seize to it. It is the female part of the ball joint
Runtoeat
If a used part can't be found, how about welding the cracks and then metal finishing / fitting this female end to the male end so you get a good joint? More or less rebuilding this with welding and fitting.
Roger Lee
I've been trying to get hold of Aircraft Spruce/CPS all morning. Tried Leading Edge to. No answer, just put on hold for 30+ minutes.
Al Downs
Typical at Leading Edge. I spent 30 minutes standing in the store the other day with no employee coming in there. I had to call on the phone and ask for someone and then still had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show.
Roger Lee
Here is the female part listed right on CPS website. http://www.cps-parts.com/search/search.php?s=978-
Al Downs
Thanks Roger. Where did you get that part #? It is not on the drawing. If that is the correct number, Leading Edge also shows it when I search the number.
Al Downs
Been on hold for 35 minutes with CPS but their website shows it not in stock and so does Leading Edge. Lockwood does not show it at all. Thanks for the help but it looks like I still need an old muffler.
