NC Bill
Would it be legal for me to remove the airspeed indicator and altimeter from my panel and fly with just my 2 DYNONs and a Garmin 696? My plane has a single ADHARS.
FlyingMonkey
For day VFR flight you are legal according to the FARs, but you'd need an MRA from Flight Design to do it in an SLSA. Because the ASTM standards require a backup to electronic instruments, FD might not grant the MRA. I'd shoot FD USA an email and ask what they think. Tom Baker
My understanding is that it is a ASTM requirement for the back up. The airplane must meet ASTM standards to receive an airworthiness certificate, and I think that they must maintain compliance with the standards to remain airworthy. That being said I have not read the standards, so it might be worth while to talk to someone who has read and understands the standards for a definitive answer. Roger Lee
Are those items on your aircraft's minimum equipment list? If so you'll need an LOA to permanently remove them.
