I love the plane. It does everything well and has been amazingly fun to fly.

With that said Rotax service support within 500 miles and airframe support within 1100 miles is nonexistent.

I’ve concluded that easy on going maintenance is an important part of aircraft ownership especially for safety. If I were to have a grounding maintenance event I would be screwed!

The first lucky buyer can own this beautiful airplane which are getting harder and harder to find.

I know I’ll have to look for a replacement LSA with and Lyc or Cont. Those will undoubtedly be slower, less weight capacity and boring compared to this German design.

Thanks for the question!

Buckaroo, I would not lower your price much from there.  Even if it takes a little longer to sell, I think somebody will bite at that price considering the condition and equipment.  I would, that's about the price I paid  for mine four years ago in similar shape, but with fewer hours and fewer gadgets.  At the time I felt I "stole" it from the previous owner.  I think your airplane is priced right.

If you do sell, maybe basicmed then go with a "certificated" plane.

Or, as has been suggested, get your LSRM-A, take some Rotax courses, and do your own. Or, go experimental and then you only need the 16 hour course - plus some Rotax courses for good measure.

My LSRM-A may have cost $4K but with 10 years of ownership it has more than paid for itself. Plus you gain confidence by knowing your plane better and you know exactly what was done to it each time it is worked on.

Thanks for some ideas or options sandpiper! I haven’t had a medical within the last 10 years so a tik of high blood pressure would doom even light sport.

If she doesn’t sell I’m going to think about taking some classes and going elsa.

Seeing those aircraft pictures is gonna make me have a workout today.  Off the polish and detail mine today.    Looks great !!    How can you even consider selling ?  (kidding) I know service is not easily available.  Hope something comes up that allows you to keep her.

I wouldn't be happy feeling isolated with no other repair/maintenance services nearby. I have taken the Rotax class and still want help to be nearby. Have you considered that for annual inspections flying it to someone elsewhere? Should you end up in a repair scenario where you can't take the plane to someone, then you could coordinate with a repair person so they know what to bring with them, and then pay their airfare to come to you. Hopefully the annual can be worked into a trip and the repairs would never happen.  Hate to see you give up a plane you have worked so hard to come to terms with. When I got my CTLS, I read somewhere that for the first year, you will fight the plane for who is in control. In the second year the plane will decide if you have earned the right to be boss.

Thanks for the response! Yes I am willing to pay someone like Roger or Tom to come here to bring my CT to 100%.

I think if someone was willing to travel Rotax would support them and they could do well say 10 visits a year.

Im surprised with the popularity of Rotax that A&P don’t teach these engines.

We have the same problem in Aus. with not enough Rotax trained people. The average aircraft mechanic seems to have the attitude "I've been working on Lycs. and Conts. for thirty years so why should I go to school to work on these little pieces of crap". I think the saying goes they don't know what they don't know.
