bmar
Does anyone know the model number for the air filters on the 2011 CTLS. I’d like to order a replacement air filter, preferably K&N but I’m not sure which part number is the correct K&N filter to order. Thanks
Tom Baker
Why does it need replaced?
bmar
I’d like to purchase a second air filter so it’s an easy swap out when it’s ready to change.
Tom Baker
The original filter is a K&N. It should be cleaned and treated as part of the annual condition inspection. Unless you are operating in a harsh environment cleaning and treating annually should be sufficient. I normally clean and treat while I am in the process of doing the rest of the inspection. Roger Lee
It only takes a little bit of time to clean it. I do them during the annual. I pull it, wash it in water and "Oil Eater" degreaser (water based and won't hurt the filter material), then while working on other items I place it in the sun long enough to dry then apply the oil. They are rarely dirty enough to change them out between annuals and most could go 2 annuals. Unless you are flying nothing, but dirt sterips and taxing right behind someone else kicking up a lot of dust yours should never need to be cleaned in between annuals. Anticept
https://www.knfilters.com/cleaning-pics.htm It's been a while since I've cleaned ours. I don't let it get as bad as the picture on the upper right, but when it gets a little past the upper left, it gets cleaned.
bmar
Can anyone tell me the part number or if it is one of these listed in the photo below? I’m aware they can be cleaned, I’d like to have another on hand to swap back and forth.
FredG
Call Lockwood Aviation. They have a filter on their site with the following description: "3-1/2Dx5Lx5/8FL centered round straight. Used on Flight Design CTLS, Katana, and other 912/912S powered aircraft."

I was gonna put mine in the sun to dry today but didn't know how to get to 5000 Ft so I could find it.
