Buckaroo Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 In preparation for a tire change I removed my wheel pants to look the wheel removal process over. I have the Tundra set up and was surprised to see how large and heavy the new recaps are! With the fairings on my observation was small tires and probably not good for aggressive turf. With a good look at the tire size now I think she could go into fields with any of the competition. Do any of you prefer the pants off? I like the look of the spun aluminum wheels and clean landing gear on many other aircraft. Would there be a way to clean the struts up for a clean simple look? Without the wheel pants the strut fairings look kinda rough.
Ed Cesnalis Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 The original FD west had some custom pant replacements to clean up the fairings and wheel. Someone handy with fiberglass could fabricate something, the result looked really good.
WmInce Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Just as a side note, there is an LOA for flying with the main wheel fairings removed. But the LOA states the *nose wheel fairing must remain installed. *Limitation is not applicable for E-LSA CT's.
Tom Baker Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Also if you want to fly with your pants removed on a CTSW, make sure to put the rear most wheel pant screw back in. It also holds the gear leg fairing in place. Without it the fairing can slide down and cause problems.
