Al Downs Posted April 13, 2018 Report Posted April 13, 2018 When I switch from the Garmin 496 to the 696 I will also be removing the HS34 HSI EXPANSION MODULE. Can I just remove it and ts wiring?
Anticept Posted April 13, 2018 Report Posted April 13, 2018 No, you have to do some rewiring of the system. Just get a serial extension cable, i believe a DB25 connector, and mount the HS34 near the EFIS. You don't want to drop the HS34. It provides a lot of functionality.
WmInce Posted April 13, 2018 Report Posted April 13, 2018 I think that is awesome. Max utilization of real estate. What's more . . . the most bang for the buck.
Al Downs Posted April 14, 2018 Author Report Posted April 14, 2018 Found out that if you have a Garmin SL 30 and want to remove the HS34 it is not so easy. So I am going to relocate the HS34 and keep it. Simple to change from a Garmin 496 to the 696
