Buckaroo Posted June 25, 2018 Report Posted June 25, 2018 I just got my oil analysis report back from Blackstone today. Looks like she’s wearing normally. The important thing now will be yearly trends with this test as a benchmark. Anyone have a similar test? It would be interesting to see those values!
NC Bill Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 I'll attach a copy of my latest BLACKSTONE analysis. I've had one done with each oil change since I bought her in Jan '11. Minus that time the mech forgot the sample N544CT-180501.pdf
Buckaroo Posted June 26, 2018 Author Report Posted June 26, 2018 I like the test! If something were deteriorating it would show here I’m sure!
Anticept Posted June 26, 2018 Report Posted June 26, 2018 Very important: you can only compare engines of the same make and model, similar operating times, and same lab. Its a trend analysis. Serious issues will show on the report immediately, but such issues are often detected with other methods. The primary benefit of oil analysis is to catch issues as they develop, marked by rapidly accelerating wear. Finally, it doesn't catch everything. An engine that has worn normally for its life can still be worn out without spiking the oil analysis. It is one extra useful tool. It cannot be solely relied upon. Good luck!
