Buckaroo
I have a CFI rating but it’s many years old with expired medical. I’m now flying my CTSW almost daily. Question: What would I need to do to be an Lsa instructor? Thanks
Tom Baker
Study for and do a reinstatement checkride for your CFI certificate.
Buckaroo
Does the check ride require a designated examiner or FAA examiner? Can I use my CT for the ride?
Tom Baker
You only need to get the local FFA envolved for initial CFI rides. Being that this is a reinstatement just find a local DPE who is authorized to do CFI rides. You should be able to use your CT for the ride, as long as the DPE is okay with doing the ride in it. It meets all of the prerequisites required for the ride.
Andy
FAR 61.199 spells it out. Think you'll also have to have a Class III or Basic Med to go this way. LSA instruction is enveloped by a Part 61 Subpart H CFI as Tom suggested..
