Isham
My spinner and backplate are in pretty rough shape. Have any of you rebuilt a spinner and back plate in this condition? The third photo has white tape over the hole, but it is similar to photo one.
Tom Baker
Somebody sure did a number on that. I don't see any reason why it couldn't be repaired except it might be difficult to get a MRA if you are SLSA. The big things are designing the repair to maintain strength, while maintaining the balance of the spinner. I suspect you might be able to buy one on the used market for less than the value of your time making the repair, but I could be mistaken. I would bet someone put the wrong kind or too much thread locker on the original screw and spun the rivnut. I bet they didn't bother to put a metric rivnut back in as a replacement. Isham
I would guess you are right. I will see if I can find a used one and use the repair as a fall back.
Runtoeat
If you repair the spinner and back plate, I recommend that the propeller be dynamically balanced after you have reinstalled the repaired parts.
